FWCC Welcomes You
The Frederick Woman’s Civic Club welcomes you to our website. We hope you will spend some time learning more about our club and its century of proud service to the Frederick community.
What makes us different from other non-profit, civic organizations in Frederick? Rather than having a single focus, we engage in a variety of causes. We are unique in the breadth of our volunteer outreach and our financial support for community organizations. Our members donate an average of 15,000 hours each year to make Frederick an even better place to live, work, raise families and enjoy life.
The club’s service to the community has evolved over the past century from helping to establish Frederick’s first public library to today’s many programs and projects. As we enter our second century of service, club members can choose to concentrate their efforts in six areas and in special community needs that arise:
- Support of the Arts
- Conservation of Natural Resources
- Promotion of Education
- Encouragement of Healthy Lifestyles
- International Outreach
- Greater Civic Involvement
Domestic Violence is our Signature Project. For over 35 years, club members have strongly supported Heartly House and its comprehensive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in the Frederick community .
Preservation of the historic Steiner House is very important. Since FWCC purchased this 1807 home over 50 years ago, we have worked to preserve and maintain it to share with the community and future generations.
The Mardi Gras Ball is the club’s annual fundraiser. Proceeds benefit a partnering non-profit, scholarships, and preservation of historic Steiner House.
Monthly meetings take place during the day and in the evening to accommodate our members who can each broaden the effectiveness of the club. Click here for the scheduled meetings.
