A gracious arbor, generously donated by the Men’s Garden Club of Frederick, adds a welcoming focal point to the garden. It creates a lovely transition into the grounds and reflects the community spirit that helps Steiner House flourish.
A graceful dogwood, classic boxwoods, and a wrought-iron fence along the sidewalk give this garden a timeless, traditional character. A gate opens toward the front of Steiner House, creating an inviting entrance that complements the elegance and historic charm of the home.
Near the little house, a more relaxed garden brings together useful plants and old-fashioned favorites. Sage, mountain mint, indigo, and peonies grow alongside a raised bed for squash, recalling the practical beauty of gardens that combined herbs, vegetables, and flowers.
Around the parking area, Limelight hydrangeas, fragrant mock orange, cheerful coneflowers, and Maryland’s beloved Black-eyed Susans bring color and seasonal interest to the grounds. These shrubs and flowers create a welcoming landscape while celebrating the natural beauty of our region.
Outside the boardroom, a beautiful Japanese maple and a classic gazing ball create a peaceful garden focal point. Surrounded by shade-loving plants, including hostas and coral bells, this quiet corner offers a blend of color, texture, and old-fashioned garden charm.
Along the driveway, a succession of blooms brings color and interest throughout the year. Honeysuckle, swamp milkweed, false sunflower, iris, daylilies, resurrection lilies, mums, lily of the valley, and coral bells each contribute their own beauty, while the plantings change with the seasons.
